We are excited to present four itineraries as examples of a typical visit to Guatemala and these itineraries are useful tools to help you visualise how a trip to Guatemala may look. Guatemala Highlights – 8 days
Day 1: Welcome!
Welcome to Guatemala! You will be met at the exit of Guatemala City airport by a Darah Travel representative who will be waiting for you and holding a sign bearing your name. You will be transferred by private vehicle to your hotel. As you arrive to start your amazing Guatemalan immersion we know that you will be filled with a sense of awe, amazement and a spirit of adventure as we reveal the various cultures revealed through traditions passed down through the ages. Relax, take it all in and Bienvenidos!
Day 2: Maya heritage
First, we will make a stop at the colourful market town of Chichicastenango, known locally as Chichi. On Thursdays and Sundays, the town welcomes the indigenous K’iche Maya from nearby villages who gather to showcase their rich tapestry of arts and crafts in the marketplace. Witness the colourful and syncretic expressionism of the indigenous communities, Other notable sites to visit include the Santo Tomas church and cemetery. Then it’s on to Santa Catarina Palopo, a very important village located on the shores of the mesmerising, volcano framed, Lake Atitlan.
DAY 3: Lake Atitlan
A visit to San Juan La Laguna known for its’ community to focus on preserving traditional crafts and customs. Meet the tz’utujil Maya and have a front seat glimpse into how they thrive on these ancient artisanal skills. Vibrant textures coloured by plant-based dyes create colours hard to imagine. Next, we go by boat to Santiago Atitlan, a town steeped in history and spiritual significance. Be regaled by tales of Maximon, a deity who embodies a blend of Maya and Catholic traditions. Famed for his unorthodox persona, Maximon is often depicted imbibing in liquor and smoking cigarettes! Every year his effigy is hosted by different caretakers and enjoy rituals made in his honour.
DAY 4: Colonial architecture
Antigua is a UNESCO world heritage site and beautifully preserved to show off its rich and colourful Spanish colonial styled architecture. Colourful cobbled stones streets that come alive at Easter with floral street art and providing an impactful experience to all visitors year round. The town is surrounded by three impressive volcanoes: Agua, Fuego and Acatenango – In Spanish these mean Water, Fire and the latter is Nahuatl for “wall of Reeds”. Visit the main market and wander the impressively preserved colonial features throughout the town.
DAY 5: Antigua walk
Formerly the capital of Guatemala, Antigua is a must visit location for any visit to the country and despite nearly being destroyed over the centuries by a series of devastating earthquakes, there is no better way than a guided walking tour. Additional visits include a visit to the eco-tourism sustainably operated farm of Valhalla famed for Macadamia. Indulge in complimentary Macadamia nut facial treatments and enjoy the manicured gardens. Calle del Arco, Le Merced Church, the Cathedral and Tanque la Union are also visited as part of this fabulous day.
DAY 6: Ancient Guatemala City & Flores
Visit the ancient city of Kaminalijuyu in Guatemala City to be transported back in time to the pre-Columbian history of the city and helping to understand historical background including art, traditions, culture and of course great cuisine! In under an hour, a local flight will take you to Peten airport, the home and heart of the Maya civilisation where you will stay on the picture postcard island of Flores. En route you can marvel at the lush and verdant countryside, volcanoes, hills and villages as you head to the east of the country sharing a nearby border with Belize.
DAY 7: Tikal Archaelogical Maya City
Tikal is UNESCO for a good reason, presenting towering pilars that have been carefully restored near to their original magnificence, you will dive deep into the world of the Maya and their profound influence on the region and beyond borders into neighbouring countries. Of course a traditional Maya lunch is included in the reserve and dizzied by the tales and history shared in this awe inspiring location, you will spend another night on the small enchanting island village of Flores Island. Walk the streets to get a full insight into island life on a tranquil lake.
DAY 8 : Departure
After breakfast, you will be transported back to Flores International airport for flights to local and International destinations. As your trip comes to an end, we know that you will be filled with wonder, regaled by history and have all of your senses awakened by the many colours, sights, sounds and tastes of our amazingly country. It’s hard to imagine so much can be packed into only six days in Guatemala and the upside of this is to be planning your return visit as the country has so much more to offer visitors or even trips to Belize, Honduras and Salvador. GUATEMALA 6 DAYS
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN GUATEMALA/ ANTIGUA
Welcome to Guatemala! You will be met and greeted at the exit of Guatemal City’s Airport by a representative who will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name on it.
You will be taken to Antigua Guatemala. Stay at Hotel Las Farolas in Standard Room
Day 2: ANTIGUA/ACATENANGO VOLCANO
Conquer Acatenango, Experience the Extraordinary. Get ready for an epic adventure to Acatenango Volcano, where breathtaking landscapes, unforgettable sunsets, and the raw power of nature come together. Hike above the clouds and witness the spectacular eruptions of Volcán de Fuego lighting up the Guatemalan sky. It’s more than a hike—it’s an experience you’ll never forget.
Day 3: ACATENANGO VOLCANO/ANTIGUA
3:30 – 4:00 am Sunrise hike to the summit of Acatenango *We recommend setting an alarm.
7:00 – 8:00 am Breakfast at the campsite.
8:15 – 8:30 am Begin the descent from the volcano
11:00 am Stop at the office to return your gear and have a beer or soda to celebrate!
12:30 – 1:00 pm Return to the hotel.

Enjoy a relaxing free afternoon to rest and recharge, preparing for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4: ANTIGUA HALF DAY TOUR/ PANAJACHEL
Breakfast at the hotel. Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes in southern Guatemala, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is a colonial jewel surrounded by the volcanoes of Agua, Fuego and Acatenango, we will visit some churches and convents, and you will enjoy a coffee farm where at the end of the visit you will taste a delicious cup of coffee. Lunch not included. Transfer to Panajachel. Stay at Jardines Del Lago Hotel in standard room. Dinner not included. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: PANAJACHEL / BOAT TO SAN JUAN LA LAGUNA/PANAJACHEL/ GUATEMALA CITY
Breakfast at the hotel. Take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlán to San Juan La Laguna, one of the region’s charming indigenous villages. Discover its rich Mayan culture, traditional crafts, and beautiful lakeside surroundings. Lunch not included. In the afternoon, return to Panajachel by boat, where your private transportation will be waiting to take you back to Guatemala City. Stay at Best Western Plus Stofella Hotel in standard room. Upon arrival at the hotel, enjoy a well-deserved rest. Dinner not included.
Day 6: GUATEMALA / INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
After Breakfast your driver will take you to the International Airport

DAY 1: WELCOME
Enjoy the warmth of a Belizean welcome that extends to our weather as well and a thrilling 25 minute flight over the barrier reef and rainforest allow you first impressions of Belize.
DAY 2 & 3: CHILLAX
Enjoy the WARM SUN, gentle ocean breeze, swaying palm fronts and turquoise waters at your luxury hideaway or check on some local adventures including snorkelling, diving and exploring the village.
DAY 4: PUNTA GORDA
Another stunning flight brings you to the least visited part of Belize where sweeping landscapes and mother nature abound. Spend some time exploring the cultural melting pot that is Punta Gorda.
DAY 5 & 6: AT PEACE
Poolside time, a restful spa treatment, enjoying a farm visit, fishing for dinner, visiting the onsite rum factory or chocolate making experience are a few things to while away the time.
DAY 7: REEF VIEWS
One of the most beautiful flights you will ever take over the reef and islands brings you to San Pedro and on to the tranquil private island of Cayo Espanto with butler service in your own secret hideaway.
DAY 8,9,10: AND RELAX
Enjoy peace and quiet of your surroundings or embark on private trips: Fishing, snorkelling, diving, explroing San Pedro town or Ambergris caye while being tempted with exuisite cuisine.
DAY 11: FAREWELL
A short flight to Belize International airport provides one last glimpse of the stunning coral reef and islands until we see you again on another visit. Safe home and see you again.
Adventure
DAY 1: WELCOME
Enjoy the warmth of a Belizean welcome that extends to our weather as well. A short flight brings you to San Pedro Town where you can relax gaxing at the ocean or explore the town.
DAY 2: SNORKELLING
An absolute highlight of any Belize trip is this two site snorkelling day with nurse sharks and southern stingrays at Shark Ray Alley, and visiting the Hol Chan marine park for more snorkelling adventures.
DAY 3: BLUE HOLE
One of the top natural wonders on the planet, take a flight of fancy over the magnificent blue hole and photograph it from many angles. At night take a local food tour with local hosts.
DAY 4: ADVENTURE
On your transfer to Western Belize, we stop in at ‘Jaguar Paw’ to enjoy a thrilling zip line through the jungle canopy and a relaxing float through several cave systems with lunch.
DAY 5: ATM CAVE
Rated the number one tour in Central America by National Geographic, you will enjoy a stunningly preserved fully guided cave experience including seeing sacrificial pottery, underground rivers and skeletal remains.
DAY 6: SPELUNKING
The “Black Hole Drop” is a 300-foot rappelling adventure into a sinkhole which involves a hike, descent, and exploration of caves at the bottom, then onwards via the Hummingbird Highway to Placencia. A real heart racing thrill!
DAY 7: RAPELLING
Rappel 100 foot down Bocawina Falls and on the hike keep a lookout for wild animals like monkeys, colorful birds, and even large cats. Cool off with a refreshing swim in the natural pool.
DAY 8: SNORKELLING
Boat trip to a remote island for snorkelling, lunch on the beach and an afternoon of deciding your own adventure, Kayaking, more snorkelling or fishing before heading back to Placencia.
DAY 9: FAREWELL
A short flight to Belize International airport provides one last glimpse of the stunning coral reef and islands until we see you again on another visit. Safe home and see you again.
